In other news.. I submitted my short story, "A Moonlit Drive to Texarkana" to the new voices student reading / online chapbook / new voices 'zine. I'm seriously hoping I make it past the second judge. If I do, I will be doing a live reading, along with others, at the Literary Arts fest on Monday night. Also getting my story published in a new voices magazine, and an online chapbook. I'm pretty excited. Wish me luck.

I took my first stab at a FAFSA application. I desperately need money, not only for school, but for other things as well. Still can't find employment in this rough market. Slowly creeping by now. The only tax info the FAFSA application asked for was from my 2007 return. I was doing much better financially then. I hope that's not a deciding factor, but I'm sure it is. It was my first time doing one so I'm not sure what is going to happen. I can check the status online in a week. Oh I'll have my fingers double crossed for this.

In other news, I really like Facebook. Never thought I'd say that!

As a teen, and also through my adult life, I have read and re-read a book called 'The New England Ghost Files' by the author Charles Turek Robinson. I love this book for its simple story telling, factual accounts and weird encounters with New England ghosts and mysteries. This book came out over ten years ago and in its pages mentions a sequel. I can not find any information on this author from online sources. Nothing on Wikipedia, and no type of bio available anywhere. All I can find is Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com links to purchase his older works. I'm not even sure if this author is still alive, still writing, or what? All I know is that 'The New England Ghost Files Book 2' has never been published. I own another one of his books on New England mysteries in which he also mentions a 'Book 2'. It's really a shame I can't find anything on him because his works on New England are really interesting reads. I would love a sequel to his original book, one that he claimed he had been working on. Even if he scraped the idea, a little info would be nice to have. If anyone knows anything about this author or can find any information about him online, I would love to have it.

Natasha Richardson has brain damage after ski accident? How sad. I was just watching The Parent Trap the other day on T.V. I don't really think I've ever seen any of her other movies. It looks pretty grim.

The new Decemberists CD 'The Hazards Of Love' is apparently available for purchase on iTunes today. This is weird considering the actual release date for the disc is not until March 24th. Great record, do purchase.

The debut full length from Glasgow sextant Dananananaykroyd has apparently been leaked. I've been searching high and low but have only come across a fake version. On last.fm people are being jerkier than usual about this supposed leak. Maybe if I wasn't poor I would actually buy CD's. Everyone says, 'Oh support the artist blah blah blah'. That's fine except they have jobs, I do not. They will get paid for releasing the album, I will not. They will get paid for touring in support of the album, I will not. So fuck the people who are whining about supporting the artist. I have bought plenty of CD's in my time, and I currently have pre-ordered some recent releases. If I had money to blow, sure thing, I would 'support the struggling artist'. But as of now if something leaks, I'm going to download it, and there are plenty of other people who are going to do the same thing. I don't think this makes them a criminal or a bad person.

Well I finished re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Now I'm about nine chapters in to Chamber Of Secrets. I'm planning on re-reading the whole series culminating with (approx.) the release of Half-Blood Prince in theaters. I'm really excited for the new Potter film. The trailers look fantastic.

In class I got a good response in our workshop for my screenplay. That's a plus. Last night I dreamed I was petting a raccoon and it bit me and I got rabies. That's a plus. The first thing I did when I woke up was look up raccoons on Wikipedia. They are actually pretty cute. I like them now, and wish I had one as a pet. Maybe not though.
The new Joan Of Arc album leaked and I'm contemplating downloading it. I got the new Metric and it's pretty good. So many albums have leaked lately though that it is too much new stuff. I can't seem to enjoy one album fully before something else comes out. I still love the new Neko Case, Cursive, Camera Obscura, The Decemberists. I think I'll check out the new Joan Of Arc.

By now everybody knows The Decemberists second release for Capitol Records has been labeled a rock opera. This is true in the sense that the album tells a story from start to finish and has different characters / perspectives sung accordingly.
Listening to this album for me, was kind of like the first time I had sex. It was a bit awkward at first, but then so magnificent I never wanted it to stop! This album is definitely a departure from the sound that most Decemberists fans have come to know and love. That is not always a bad thing, as this album was supposed to be a shot at something new. Do I think future Decemberists albums will sound like this one? No. Do I think the Decemberists take on a rock opera worked? Yes! Complete with hooks-a-plenty, jarring distortion-heavy guitar riffs, beautiful vocal harmonies, and an array of odd instrumentation, The Hazards Of Love is an excellent listen!

The Hazards Of Love is due out March 24th on Capitol Records.

OK - There have been a lot of good albums lately. Camera Obscura's latest release for 4AD Records, due out April 20th, is no exception. This whole album, from start to finish, is a fine work of genius. Jangly guitar lines, string arrangements, and some of the sweetest vocal melodies I've heard in a long time. This entire album sounds like it was recorded in an airport hanger, or possibly an empty school gymnasium. Lush reverb can be heard on every single instrument and vocal line, culminating on the stripped down reverb drenched 'Other Towns And Cities'. The album starts strong with the hooky 'French Navy' and finishes powerfully and beautifully with 'Honey In The Sun'. I love this album!

Well, this sure takes me back. I'm very excited because Cursive actually came out with a new record which is listenable. After 'Happy Hollow' which, in my opinion, made me want to slice my ears off with a penis - I thought all hope was lost. 'Dorothy At Forty' is the only shining diamond in the otherwise mound of shit on that album. But Cursive's new release 'Mama, I'm Swollen' which is due out March 10th on Saddle Creek, although not their best work to date, is definitely an improvement! I've had this album on repeat ever since it leaked.

Another great record is Neko Case's 'Middle Cyclone'. Oh how I love her voice. This album I believe was released today, but it's been leaked for a while. Neko never ceases to amaze me, and this album I was sure would be no different. She did not let me down.

A fucking plus on the new Animal Collective album 'Merriweather Post Pavilion'. Great job, studs ;)

A little less favorable is the new Appleseed Cast album 'Sagarmatha'. The two things I love about Appleseed Cast is the drums and the vocals. This album has neither, being the second album since original drummer Josh "Cobra" Baruth left the band. 'Two Conversations' was a great album. After that they started to slip, and now with the most current release, have fallen off. An instrumental album? Yeah great idea guys.

Also, the new Propaghandi sucks a fat dick. Don't bother with that one.

When the fuck is the new Decemberists album going to leak?? I've been waiting for The Hazards Of Love to leak since they first announced they were heading into the studio for Christs sake. I've been checking multiple times per day for this fucker. If anyone has it, let me know and I'll buy you a card.

An evil infection has cocooned itself in my tooth. My lower jaw on the right side has become monstrously swollen so as my face is unrecognizable as human. On top of that I have a sweet cold. My nasal passages are running, and my ears keep popping like I have a paper bag wrapped tightly around my head. I need a root canal, and I'm not too excited about it.

Saturday night, for me, was spent in the foul smelling clutches of the emergency room at Scripps Mercy Hospital on 5th Ave. in Hillcrest. The very same hospital Aaron Carter was admitted to after he nailed his liver with a surfboard. I've only watched House Of Carters once by the way. I then decided that hospital emergency rooms are quite possibly the most wretched places on Earth. It all unfolded at 3 AM when, after suffering from tooth pain all day, I decided I couldn't go on and I needed some medication for infection and pain. My girlfriend drove us from our apartment to the hospital. Upon entering the automatic 'Wal-Mart' style doors I proceeded to check in with a certainly miserable looking blond girl wearing one of those hospital nurse rainbow colored smocks over her dark green scrubs. In the waiting room, my girlfriend and I sat awkwardly (with as little ass or other body parts touching) in the disease infested, lime-snot colored vinyl chairs with wood trim and backing that was slightly similar to the rainbow colored snot rocket on the blond girls smock. The zombies that surrounded us varied by age and ugliness, but all shared the depressing look of being ill. One particular ghoul looked to be about mid-30's with darkish hair. He was wearing pajama flannel pants, and some over sized black t-shirt. He moaned like a spectre as he clutched his side and stumbled about the room. After an hour of waiting impatiently in this dank chamber of horrors, my name was finally called by a mustache sporting man in the same drab as the beloved blond nurse. This man, too, was a nurse. He didn't bring me to the doctor, but just behind the glass where the other nurse was sitting doing a crossword puzzle. After taking my weight and height, he sat me down across from him and placed the thermometer in my mouth. He sat with his legs wide open and his balls flopped to one side of his thin nurses scrubs and made their presence known. This upset me quite a bit, but I was in no position to refuse service. After he was done fiddling with my patients and asking stupid questions, I returned once again to the waiting room for another grueling 45 minutes. I applauded and thanked my girlfriend deeply for her patients seeing as she was waiting with me this whole time, in this same hell, and she wasn't even ill! Finally, some marvelous amount of time after we had first arrived at Scripps Mercy, I was summoned to the back to meet the doctor, the man who would cure my pain.

The entire emergency room was a riot of people running to and fro, a bee hive of activity. I somehow landed in the space next to the guy from the waiting room who was howling like a goddamn banshee at this point. I think he might have been passing a stone, something about the way he was clutching his side just leads me to think that.

I spent five minutes with the doctor. He opened my mouth, stuck his fingers in and played around for a bit, and presently wrote me a prescription for 500MG Penicillin and 500MG Vicodin.

By this time, the sun was just about rising in downtown San Diego and the sky lit up a brilliant purple-blue. Birds were chirping and the morning fog was dissipating.

After another hour at the CVS pharmacy, my girlfriend and I drove home and went to sleep.

so i check my email today, and i get a ship confirmation from musicians friend saying that they have shipped the "available items" from my order which happens to be only the case for my bass. it turns out my bass is backordered, which i already knew, yet when i ordered it the due-in-date was 9/6/04.. well i just happen to check the status of the backorder today and its now due in on 9/19/04. so this friday i will recieve an empty case to hold my bass which isnt gonna come till the end of the month. this means i have to play the tragic bass i have now for two more weeks atleast, and i will have to play it at our show on the 18th and be embaressed cause it sounds terrible. and ofcoarse this is the show which is being broadcast live on the radio, so thats just super. oh messy life. on the upside we have been writing so much since eric quit the band. we're all really happy with the progress. i think we will be recording sometime soon, so double thumbs up for that. and i downloaded the "take on me" by a-ha ringtone on my phone tonight.

so we had to cancel our show tonight at Eagles in fall river. we will still be playing at jarrods on the 18th though. i cant wait till october. if it was fall all year round id be very happy.

band practice is tonight, and i start my new job on the 13th. it will probably suck but i definetly need the money. i need to pay my car insurance and i'd like to save some money to visit emma.

so saturday night i went to see Q and not U and Mary Timony at the YWCA in Cambridge and it was definetly rockin. some band from DC opened up and they were pretty good, and then Certainly, Sir played (worst band ever!) followed by the lovely Mary Timony, who's set was good despite PA problems. Q and not U was amazing as always yet played a short set due to police involvment.

earlier in the week sandy came to visit and that was HOTT! we got yummy jewish food, and sushi, and had hello kitty pajama/uno parties, movies, childrens museum, porstmouth NH, freindly toast, and pocket calculator!

me and emma have decided to get ANOTHER matching tattoo for our one year anniversary <3 <3 <3 emma=the best thing in my life.

this week it's back to boston on tuesday to see DENALI / EYES LIKE KNIVES @ the middle east and goddamn motherfuckin LE TIGRE!!! on wednesday. im excited like a jalapeno pepper!
